FIRST LEVEL OF TWO LOCAL MINIMUM WAGE INCREASES TAKE EFFECT NEXT MONTH
The minimum wage will increase from $7.25 per hour to $8.40 per hour on October 1 in Prince George’s County and in Montgomery County. The increases are part of phased in increases that will result in an $11.50 per hour minimum wage in the two counties by October 1, 2017.

REMINDER — POST LABOR DAY SCHOOL START PETITION IS AVAILABLE ONLINE
To access the online version of the petition to affirm public support for a post Labor Day school start for Maryland public schools click here. The goal of the petition drive is a minimum of 10,000 signature from across Maryland prior to the start of the next General Assembly session in January 2015.

CASINO REVENUES AT RECORD LEVEL
Revenue for Maryland’s five operating casinos was $80 million last month, breaking a previous record of $77.8 million form four operating casinos in March of this year. The August revenue includes $5.7 million in slots and table games revenue at the new Horseshoe Casino which opened on August 26. .
