MH&LA TO GET COMPLIANCE ANSWERS ON ACCOUNTING CHANGES FOR GROUP REBATES
MH&LA has met with the staff of the State Comptroller regarding changes in the 11th Edition of the Uniform System of Accounts for Hotels on how to account for rebates for large group bookings. An update on any new compliance guidelines for Maryland hotels will be distributed as soon as received.

POST LABOR DAY SCHOOL START UPDATE
MH&LA continues to manage an ad hoc Work Group whose focus until recently was to secure a favorable report from a State Task Force on this issue. As that goal has been achieved, the Work Group focus is now exclusively on securing General Assembly approval of the State Task Force recommendations.
NATIONAL HARBOR CASINO UPDATE
The Prince George’s County Council will hold a public hearing on July 14 to on the proposed MGM casino. No significant public opposition is expected but questions and concerns are likely to be raised on proposed lighting features and outdoor LED video screens.
