MARYLAND POST LABOR DAY SCHOOL START TASK FORCE REPORT CITES MH&LA
The cover letter to the Governor, Senate President and Speaker of the House notes that MH&LA and Visit Baltimore made formal presentations in support of the concept during Task Force deliberations and prior to a 12-3 Task Force vote to endorse the concept. DELAWARE POST LABOR DAY SCHOOL START TASK FORCE ISSUES FINAL REPORT
Following five months of dialogue and deliberations, a majority of the Delaware Task Force members approved a recommendation to the Delaware General Assembly Leadership that Delaware law be changed to require a post Labor Day school start. For a copy of the Delaware report click here.

MH&LA HAS A NEW ELECTED SECRETARY
Congratulations to Bob Moore, Hotel Manager at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center. Bob was unanimously approved by the Board to serve as Secretary and member of the Executive Committee. This position is the first rung on a ladder leading to serving as MH&LA Board Chair.

HORSESHOE CASINO BALTIMORE ANNOUNCES OPENING DATE
Maryland’s fifth casino will open on Tuesday evening August 26. In the interim, work crews are finishing installations of 2,500 slot machines, more than 100 table games, 25 tables for the World Series of Poker room, as well as an array of in house restaurants.
