2014 GENERAL ASSEMBLY SESSION HAS ADJOURNED
The Session ended at midnight last night — the last day of the 90 day Session. As always, up until the end of the Session, MH&LA was monitoring and advocating on a wide range of lodging industry issues. A “report card” on MH&LA’s advocacy efforts on these issues will be posted soon on the MH&LA website.
REMINDER — NEW DATE FOR THE GOLF OUTING AND FISHING TOURNAMENT
MH&LA’s annual Golf Outing and Fishing Tournament is moving to the fall. The event will be on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina in Cambridge. More details will follow in future updates and will be posted on the MH&LA website.
OCEAN CITY ON LIST OF BEST PLACES FOR KIDS
Users of the travel planning site Gogobot have ranked Ocean City’s boardwalk as one of the top 15 best attractions in the country for kids. The ranking was based on Gogobot user recommendations and the number of visits from the site’s 3.7 million users.

STATE TOURISM TAX CODES ARE UP
State revenue from tourism tax codes grew 1% during the first six months of the current fiscal year. The addition of table games at state casinos led to a 53.2% increase in gaming revenue, Amtrak ridership was up 6% and the number of travelers using BWI Airport was up 4%.
