IRS Revises Tax Treatment of Automatic Gratuities
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has provided administrative guidelines to its examiners stating that when performing a tip examination (aka audit), IRS examiners must ensure that service fees or charges are properly characterized as wages (where FICA rules apply) and not as tips.
AH&LA Launches Mobile App
AH&LA has released its first mobile App for smartphones. This new app provides updates on Capitol Hill, gives access to AH&LA’s Information Center; and connects members to AH&LA’s social media activity. Members also get the latest on networking opportunities, education offerings, and special events.
