GOVERNOR ASKS FOR SUPPORT FOR STATE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE
The call for support of an unspecified increase came from his federal political action committee. A spokesperson for the Governor has said it is “premature” to say if such a proposal will be included in his package of Legislative Initiatives for the next General Assembly session.

RECORD NUMBERS FOR MARYLAND TOURISM
35.4 million people visited Maryland last year. The record number is attributed in part to a change in the state Office of Tourism Development’s tourism marketing strategy from a summer push to a year-long effort along with local/state investments in attractions like National Harbor and Maryland Live Casino.

MARYLAND CASINO REVENUE UP LAST MONTH
Total revenue for October 2013 was 58.9% over October 2012 but that increase includes “new” October 2013 revenue from Rocky Gap where gambling was launched in May 2013. Revenue year over year was up across the board — 69% at Maryland Live, 26% at Hollywood Casino and 20.7% at Ocean Downs.

STATE SEEKS NEW MANAGER FOR BWI AIRPORT HOTEL
The Maryland Aviation Administration is soliciting proposals to manage the Four Points by Sheraton BWI Airport property which is scheduled to close at the end of this month. MAA is seeking a 5 year agreement while discussions continue on building a new hotel at the airport that would be connected to the terminal.
