GOVERNMENT TRAVEL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETINGS UPDATE GSA's Government Travel Advisory Committee will meet from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. on July 30 and from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. on July 31 to begin discussions on government travel policies and per diem methodology. The public can monitor the proceedings via a webinar, but preregistration is required at JUSTICE DEPARTMENT ADA COMPLIANCE SURVEY IS AVAILABLE MH&LA has a copy of the 35 page ADA compliance survey from the U.S. Justice Department with questions that include, but are not limited to, roll-in showers, room types, beds in accessible rooms and food and beverage. For a copy, contact David Reel at 410.974.4472 or by email at MARYLAND GAINED JOBS IN JUNE BUT UNEMPLOYMENT RATE IS UP AGAIN Maryland's added 6,200 private sector in June, with more than half of them (3,200) in the leisure and hospitality sector. The state unemployment rate also increased to 7.0% in June, up from 6.7% in May. Anirban Basu of the Sage Policy Group suggests the leading likely cause is sequestration. J-1 PROGRAM UNDER ASSAULT To help blunt an aggressive campaign to eliminate the J-1 program, AH&LA need details (and pictures) on cultural and/or social activities provided to J-1 participants, training received by J-1 participants and testimonials/positive experience letters from J-1 participants.
