SENATE PRESIDENT LEADS ALL STAR LINE UP OF TOURISM DAY SPEAKERS
Speakers include Senate President  Mike Miller, Senate Budget and Taxation Committee Chair Edward Kasemeyer, Senate Minority Leader E.J. Pipkin, House Majority Leader Kumar Barve, House Minority Leader Anthony O’Donnell, House Appropriations Committee Chair Norman Conway, Senate Finance Committee Chair Thomas Middleton and  Senate Finance Committee Vice Chair John Astle.

DBED SECRETARY WILL ALSO SPEAK AT TOURISM DAY IN ANNAPOLIS
Dominick Murray, recently promoted to serve as Secretary of the Maryland (DBED) will also be a guest speaker at Tourism Day at Annapolis.

LOCAL AND FRESH MENU OPTIONS ARE NEW HOTEL DINING TREND
Demand for fresher, healthier foods and expanded menu options are driving changes in hotel food and beverage offerings. As a result of Increasing guest willingness to try new menu items local dishes made from scratch with fresh ingredients and craft brews are being added to hotel restaurant menus.

SAVE THE DATES FOR AH&LA’S LEGISLATIVE ACTION SUMMIT
AH&LA’s Legislative Action Summit will be held in Washington DC on April 23-24. Highlights include appearances from key Washington policymakers, a CEO panel, informative sessions, grassroots meetings with members of Congress and an evening reception on Capitol Hill. More details to follow.

EXPANDED GAMBLING UPDATE

Companies interested in operating a Prince George’s County casino have until May 10, 2013 to submit bids for state approval.  MGM Resorts will be submitting a bid while Penn National has yet to announce if they will. The earliest the new Prince George’s casino will open is likely  to be 2016.
