Golf Tournament

The Annual Golf Tournament provides a relaxed atmosphere for making friends, making connections, acquiring new business, and finding out what hoteliers and Allied members from all over the state are doing.

Starting with a reception the night before and ending with an Awards Luncheon, the Golf Outing is a popular MHLA Signature Event that many members look forward to year after year!

Regional Meetings

Regional Meetings are planned in various areas of the state 4-6 times per year. All hoteliers in the region (both member and non-member) are invited, as well as Allied Members. There are multiple purposes: to discuss current issues; bring attendees up to date on legislative issues affecting the lodging industry as well as items of concern to hoteliers; to present an opportunity to meet other Lodging members and staff of MHLA; and to give our Allied members an opportunity to meet hoteliers on an informal basis.

Stars of the Industry Annual Awards Luncheon

The MHLA’s Stars of the Industry awards program was created more than 25 years ago to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the lodging industry.  While the categories have evolved over the years, the concept is still the same: to honor lodging employees and properties that best symbolize the quality of the industry.
The Awards Program is held in January or February, and both hotel line workers and members of management are encouraged to attend. All nominees for individual awards are recognized and  given a Certificate of Nomination.  The winner in each category is announced and presented with a prize.  Winners at the state level may go on to compete in the national American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) Stars program.  Proudly, Maryland has had several national winners!

Annual Meeting, Table Top Trade Show & Reception

The MHLA Annual Meeting provides hoteliers and Allied members with information and updates about the outcome from the current year’s legislative session.  It also provides MHLA members in attendance the opportunity to recognize and confirm new members of the MHLA Board of Directors as selected by the Nominating Committee.

The Trade Top Trade Show provides vendors the opportunity to interact with  members prior to and after the Annual Meeting and display their goods and services for the duration of the event.  A casual reception atmosphere provides an excellent opportunity for networking.

Seminars / Webinars

Educational sessions are scheduled as needs arise.  Past speakers have addressed: Hospitality Law, ADA Regulations, Changes to Maryland Tax Laws, STR data, Social Media and more!

More meetings may be scheduled throughout the year, and industry specific topics and needs are addressed as requested by members.
