Baltimore hoteliers are encouraging couples to “get a room” for Valentine’s Day or President’s Day weekend. The Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel, Hyatt Regency, Hotel Monaco and the Admiral Fell Inn are among the 14 hotels offering discounted packages and perks for guests who stay between Feb. 8 and 18 — Baltimore’s first hotel week. The promotion is organized by Visit Baltimore, the city’s tourism agency.
Rates start at $99 per night, but vary between the different venues, and some of the packages include complementary breakfast, a bottle of wine and dining vouchers.
Visit Baltimore CEO Tom Noonan said the agency drew from the success of Baltimore’s restaurant week to create the city’s first hotel week. February is generally a slow month for hotels, he said, and having a discount period near Valentine’s Day will help boost their occupancy. He noted the promotion is targeting locals who may be looking for a romantic getaway. “We’re looking at a need period for us,” Noonan said. “We also like the fact that it’s around Valentine’s Day.”
Visitors who book at least two nights will also receive two tickets to an attraction of their choice, including the National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center, Fort McHenry and the American Visionary Arts Museum.
